Information You Enter
A name, phone number, or address entered in a lookup form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result. Our own servers do not keep a copy of the search. If you contact us, we receive the details included in your message and use them to respond.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting may record ordinary server data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of access. We use aggregate patterns to maintain the service and understand which New Canaan research pages are useful. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How the Information Is Used
The limited data supports ordinary operations, troubleshooting, traffic counts, and page improvements. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual user profiles.
Links to Local and State Portals
Pages may link to the New Canaan Town Clerk, Assessor, Connecticut court, Library, Historical Society, archives, and third-party search tools. Each outside service sets its own privacy policy and controls what is submitted there. Sponsored results are supplied by a third party as well.
Who May Process It
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs for site support. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Disclosure occurs when valid legal process requires it, and otherwise is limited to operating the service.
Security and Retention
The connection is encrypted, and logs are kept only for as long as the purposes above require. Because the site has no user accounts, it does not maintain a password or personal profile for you.
People Under 18
New Canaan Residents Directory is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. If a minor has sent information, use the Contact page so it can be reviewed and removed where appropriate.
Your Connecticut Privacy Rights
Depending on the circumstances, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, Public Act 22-15, Conn. Gen. Stat. §§42-515–42-526, may provide covered consumers rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal data, and to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or profiling. The Connecticut Attorney General's CTDPA guide explains the statute. A request about data held by this private reference can be sent through the Contact page; we can search the contact mailbox and applicable logs for information we actually hold.
Connecticut public-record requests are different. The Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. §§1-200–1-242, especially §§1-210 and 1-212, applies to requests directed to the responsible custodian. It does not put New Canaan Town Clerk, Assessor, court, vital, or historical records under this site's control. The Safe at Home/Address Confidentiality Program and Voter Registry Privacy Program may restrict release of protected addresses; they do not promise deletion of public records.
